Nick Drake passed away on November 25th 1974 as the result of an overdose on the antidepressant Tryptiozol. Whilst the coroners ruled his death as a suicide - his family stiill question whether or not this was his intention.

It’s disappointing how the manner of Nick’s death overshadowed all of his work. It seems as though journalists spend a lot of time picking through his lyrics for clues on why he took his own life - rather than listening and accepting the music for what it is - an incredibly beautiful back catalogue of haunting songs about life as much as they were about death.

Who knows what the future would have held for him really, although I guess that thinking about this is pretty pointless considering the reality of the situation. I’ve found myself asking this before….

“If his previous albums had sold better, would he still be alive today?”

Who knows. Such questions don’t really serve much purpose really other than to wallow in what is ultimately irrelevant. He died and that’s it really.
